　予想通り、ササビーズのジュネーブウォッチオークションは、オークションハウスの時計部門の陰鬱な状態を反映し、さほどワクワクするものではなかった。
　トップロットはG.Menniによってエナメル文字盤に狩りのシーンを描いたパテック フィリップのポケットウォッチであり、21万8750スイスフランで競り落とされた。
　このセールで興味深いのは、重要な現代のオーデマ ピゲの腕時計コレクションであり、多くが“No.1”の称号を与えられた時計であった。ブルー文字盤でプラチナケースの「ロイヤル オーク パーペチュアルカレンダーNo.1」（10万スイスフラン）、ブルー文字盤でホワイトゴールドケースの「ロイヤル オーク オフショアNo.1」（5万8750スイスフラン）、「プラチナ グランド コンプリケーションNo.1」（12万5000スイスフラン）だ。
　重要なヴィンテージ腕時計がなかったため、上記の時計は、比較的低い価格で売られたと言えるだろう。
　オークションハウスの衰退した評判と収入のために、ニューヨークでの事業が厄介な分裂と撤退をしたことは、最近のアンティコルムにもいえるだろう。

As expected, Sotheby’s Geneva watch auction was not as exciting, reflecting the dismal state of the House’s watch department. The top lot was a Patek Philippe pocket watch with hunting scene in miniature enamel by G. Menni, selling for CHF 218,750. Of interest in this sale was a collection of important modern Audemars Piguet wristwatches, many with “No. 1” designation: platinum Royal Oak perpetual calendar No. 1 with blue dial (CHF 100,000), white gold Royal Oak Offshore No. 1 with blue dial (CHF 58,750), and platinum Grand Complication No. 1 (CHF 125,000). While there were no mega important vintage wristwatches, it can be argued that most of the above sold for relatively low prices. The same could be said for Antiquorum sales in recent years due to the House’s declining reputation and revenues, leading to its messy split-up and closure of its New York business.

　ごまかしと落とし穴だらけのジャングルの中で、ウォッチコレクターにとっては興味深いが危険な時期であった。そのため、バイヤーは狙う可能性のある時計を批判的な目で観察することが必要となる。オークションに望むコレクターたちに、私はこうアドバイスしたい。あなたの愛する時計を、そしてあなたが支払うことのできる限り、最も良いコンディションの時計を買いなさい、と。私は“品の高さ”は将来、より価値あるものになると固く信じている。ハンティングに値するのは（難しいだろうが）、オリジナルで修理していない時計なのだ。

These are interesting yet perilous times for every serious watch collector, in a jungle fraught with tricks and pitfalls. It is essential that the buyer examine each potential target with a critical eye and draw his or her own conclusions. My advice: buy what you love and buy the best condition you can afford. I firmly believe that the “quality premium” will become even larger in the future: the worthy (and likely difficult) hunt should be for original, unrestored examples!
