　“ポール・ニューマン”文字盤のロレックス「デイトナ」は、どのオークションカタログでも定番となっており、高価格での取引が続いている。しかしながら、出品されているものの中での価格格差が大きくなりつつある。
　クリスティーズに出品されたゴールドケースのRef.6241は、ケースと文字盤の状態がより良いフィリップスのRef.6241の半額で売られた（21万2500スイスフラン対44万4500スイスフラン）。クリスティーズのSSケース Ref.6263「オイスター ポール・ニューマン」は、文字盤の程度がわずかに良いという理由で、フィリップスのほぼ同じ時計より約10万ドル高い価格で販売された（50万4000スイスフラン対 40万8500スイスフラン）。
　今回のクリスティーズでのトップロットは、物議を醸したホワイトゴールドのパテック フィリップ Ref.3448 “Senza Luna”（意味は英語で“月がない”）であった。文字盤にはムーンフェイズ用の切り欠きがないが、ムーブメントは通常のRef.3448と全く同じであった。ムーンフェイズのメカニズムとギアは残っているが、ムーンディスクが取り去られていた。パテック フィリップのファクトリーを離れた後、すべての“Senza Luna” Ref.3448は変更されたという噂と証言があるが、多分アーカイブからの引用である“ムーンフェイズのない文字盤”がバイヤーに97万2500スイスフランを支払うにふさわしいと信じさせたのだろう。
　非常にレアなホワイトゴールドのパテック フィリップクロノグラフ Ref.130（よく知られた同モデルのふたつのうちのひとつ）は、手が入れられた文字盤が原因であると想像されるが、わずか25万スイスフランで販売された。Ref.130はもうひとつ出品され、人気の扇形文字盤を持つ、SSケースの同レファレンスナンバーの時計は、20万スイスフランで売られた。もしパテック フィリップのアーカイブによって、この時計はもともと扇形の文字盤であったと証明されたならば、もっと高く売れたであろう。
　唯一現存が確認されているホワイトゴールドのRef.1491（スクロール・ラグを持つ、時間表示のみのパテック フィリップ）は、16万2500スイスフランで売られている。クリスティーズのフォトショップで加工されたカタログの写真では、時計は完璧に見えたが、ジュネーブでその時計をじかに調べたところ、文字盤の“GENEVE”の“E”の上のアクセントが書きなおされていた（または“修正されていた”）。
　ユニークな文字盤とオリジナリティを証明する完全な来歴をもった興味深いホワイトゴールドのロレックス「デイデイト」Ref.1803は、通常の20倍もの27万5000スイスフランで売られた。
　2017年クリスティーズが開催した時計オークション「オンリーウォッチ」での記録は、ユニークなチタニウムケースを持つパテック フィリップのRef.5208で、これは2年前に記録を打ち立てたスチールのRef.5016よりやや安い620万スイスフランで落札され、さほど驚きもなく閉幕した。

Rolex Daytonas with “Paul Newman” dials, long regular entries in every auction catalogue, continue to trade at high prices. The disparity in prices among examples, however, is growing wider. A gold ref. 6241 from Christie’s fetched only half the price of a nearly identical ref. 6241 from Phillips with better condition case and dial (CHF 212,500 vs. 444,500). A steel ref. 6263 “Oyster Paul Newman” from Christie’s sold for about $100,000 more than an identical watch from Phillips because it has a slightly better dial (CHF 504,000 vs. 408,500). The top lot of the Christie’s sale was a controversial white gold Patek Philippe ref. 3448 “Senza Luna” (meaning “without moon” in English). The dial has no cut-out for the moon phase but in fact the movement is exactly the same as the regular 3448: the moon phase mechanism and gears are still there, only with the moon disc removed. There were rumors and some evidence that all of the “Senza Luna” 3448s were altered after they left the Patek Philippe factory, but perhaps the fact that the Extract from the Archives stated “dial without moon phase” convinced the buyer to pay CHF 972,500. A very rare white gold Patek Philippe chronograph ref.130 (one of two known) sold for only CHF 250,000 likely because of the cleaned dial. The same reference in steel with a sought after sector dial sold for 200,000. It probably would have brought more if the archives had confirmed that the watch was born with a sector dial. The only known ref. 1491 (time-only Patek Philippe with scroll lugs) in white gold sold for CHF 162,500. The watch looked perfect from Christie’s photoshopped catalogue picture, but in-person examination of the watch in Geneva revealed that the accent above the “E” in “GENEVE” on the dial was re-done (or “touched up”). An interesting white gold Rolex day-date ref. 1803 with a unique dial and perfect provenance proving its originality, sold for CHF 275,000, about 20 times what the same watch with a regular dial would have brought. The Only Watch auction, hosted by Christie’s this year, drew to a close without much surprise, with the unique Patek Philippe titanium ref. 5208 selling for CHF 6.2m, slightly less than the record-making steel ref. 5016 two years ago.
